LIGHTHOUSE supports a three-day scientific seminary at Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

In early April, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) – Institute of Geography hosted a three-day seminary concerning the paleo-geographic conditions of the Miocene period. LIGHTHOUSE Azerbaijan Branch was pleased to be involved in the project, supporting the presence of the Austrian professor Andre Baldermann of Graz Technical University at the initiative.

Baldermann’s lessons concerned different topics of the paleo-geographic conditions of the Miocene period: clay minerals application in civil engineering and geology, the role of authigenic clay minerals in the biogeochemical cycle of iron and Paleo-climate evolution of Miocene sediments from the Valley of Lakes (Mongolia) revealed by multi-proxy approach.

Academician Ramiz Mammadov, which introduced the three-day meeting, welcomed the participants underlining the importance of the seminary, which aimed at promoting the development of scientific and practical cooperation between ANAS and the universities involved.

During the last day, it was held a workshop on â€œGeology of the Miocene Eastern Paratethysâ€ which involved the director and scientists of ANAS institute, researchers of Institute of Geology and Geophysics, geologists of SOCAR and BP as well as professors and PhD, master and bachelor students participated in the workshop. Dr Yelena Tagiyeva from the Institute of Geography, Dr Shafag Bayramova from Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Prof Dr Sachsenhofer from Montana University, Nazim Abdullayev from BP gave a talk and discussed the geology of Miocene the Eastern Paratethys.

Azerbaijan Branch obtains ISO 9001/2008 Certification

On 5th of August 2016, Lighthouse Azerbaijan Branch has obtained its ISO 9001/2008 certification as integration of the existing one for the Italian headquarter. The achievement is the International Quality recognition of 4 years of non-stop activities in the Caucasian Republic as Offshore Survey Provider. During this period, the Branch has developed with great commitment a local Quality Management System, as well an extensive expertise in providing survey, positioning services and equipment. And today we are proud to be considered a leader Company in the Azerbaijani market. The certification confirms and underlines the mission of Lighthouse as Customer-focused Company, which aims at providing customized high-standard services.
Lighthouse Azerbaijan Branch is currently awarded with a long term contract as survey subcontractor for the Shah Deniz 2 project, one of the biggest and most strategic Oil & Gas ongoing project worldwide. The Branch has developed a strong presence in Baku with furniture of cutting-edge technology of survey equipment, expert personnel and a local DATA processing Department to ensure fast delivering and constant support to the customers.
This ISO 9001/2008 certification represents for the Branch only the first step of a continuous improvement process, required to be in compliance with customersâ€s expectations.

A new branch in Port Harcourt !

Infact, after the discovery of crude oil in 1956, Port Harcourt has rapidly turned in one of the most important industrial centre of the state, as it has a large number of multinational firms as well as other industrial concerns, particularly business related to the petroleum industry.
Port Harcourt has two main oil refineries that process around 210,000 barrels of crude oil a day, both operated by the Port Harcourt Refining Company.

We are very proud to announce the opening of a Kazakh company, GAS KCO, in Almaty Republic of Kazakhstan.
Although young, GAS KCO incorporates more than 20 years experience in geophysical acquisition and in seismic data processing and interpretation.
A regional reference point for 2D and 3D seismic data processing and interpretation, offshore geophysical survey needs and support to construction services.

GAS KCO has an operative base in Atyrau (born as GAS’ kazakh branch and active since 2003) in the core of the North Caspian offshore activities.
